Terms of service

Last updated: 2026-07-06

These terms govern your use of RA-FEWS, operated by Raven Analytics (Cairo, Egypt). By using the public dashboard or creating an account you accept them. Paying customers are additionally governed by their signed customer agreement, which prevails over these terms where they differ.

The service

RA-FEWS is a professional decision-support platform that produces rainfall and flood forecasts, exceedance analyses, and early-warning information for configured regions and river catchments, based on numerical weather prediction data and hydrological models. Feature availability depends on your service tier.

Forecast disclaimer — important

Weather and flood forecasts are inherently uncertain. Forecasts, warnings, and all other outputs of RA-FEWS are provided for informational and planning purposes only, 'as is' and without warranty of any kind — including accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or availability. In particular, events may occur without a warning having been issued (misses), warnings may be issued for events that do not occur (false alarms), and forecasts may be wrong in timing, magnitude, or location. RA-FEWS is not an official warning service and is no substitute for warnings and instructions issued by your national or local civil-defence, meteorological, or water authorities. It must not be used as the sole basis for decisions affecting life, health, property, or emergency response. Always follow the instructions of the competent authorities.

Accounts

You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials confidential; you are responsible for activity under your account. We recommend enabling two-factor authentication. Accounts are for your organisation's internal use and may not be shared with or resold to third parties.

Acceptable use

You may not attempt unauthorised access, probe or disrupt the service outside the rules of our published security policy, circumvent rate limits or access controls, scrape the service at abusive volumes, resell or sublicense access, or use the service in violation of applicable law. We may throttle or block traffic that endangers the platform.

Availability

The public dashboard and free tier are provided without any availability commitment; features may be changed, limited, or discontinued at any time. We announce planned maintenance where practical. Service levels for paid plans, where agreed, are set out in the customer agreement.

Intellectual property and data

The platform, its models, software, and interface are the property of Raven Analytics. You may use forecast products delivered to your account within your organisation for operational and planning purposes; public redistribution or systematic republication requires our prior consent. Weather input data © Deutscher Wetterdienst (ICON / ICON-EPS), used under CC BY 4.0. Basemaps © CARTO / OpenStreetMap contributors and Esri, subject to their respective terms.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Raven Analytics is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, nor for loss of profits, data, or business, arising from use of or inability to use the service — including missed events, false alarms, forecast errors of any kind, and decisions made or not made in reliance on forecasts or warnings. For free and guest access, our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for intent, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Termination

You may stop using the service and request deletion of your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts for material breach of these terms, security risk, or legal requirement, with notice where feasible. The disclaimer, liability, and governing-law sections survive termination.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the courts of Cairo have jurisdiction — unless a signed customer agreement provides otherwise, and without prejudice to mandatory protections that apply in your country of residence.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes are announced by email or in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect; continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. The 'last updated' date above reflects the current version.
